"Poverty could not block the purpose, and circumstances could never deny the promise." — Dr. Steve Gallon III.Watch the powerful highlights from Miami-Dade County Public Schools District 1 School Board Member Dr. Steve Gallon III's farewell address. From a young man growing up in Liberty City who became the first of his six siblings to graduate college, to serving as a transformational teacher, principal, and history-making Superintendent—Dr. Gallon's 25+ year journey has been anchored in an uncompromising love for our students and community. In his final remarks to the Board, Dr. Gallon reflects on structural legislative victories (including over $850 million secured for teacher salaries), the turnaround of critically low-performing urban schools, and the vital role of servant leadership. Though this chapter closes, his dedication to advocating for the marginalized, expanding innovative programs, and elevating Black-owned business opportunities remains unshakeable. As Dr. Gallon steps into his next journey of consulting, writing, and speaking—the work continues! As he always says: "Let's go, let's work!"
