Miami-Dade County District 1 School Board member Steve Gallon III, Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho, staff, students and community leaders gathered at Myrtle Grove K-8 Center last Tuesday for a ribbon-cutting event as part of the approval of a $1.2 billion General Obligation Bond.

The bond received nearly 70 percent approval by voters in 2012. At the time, Carvalho guaranteed 100 percent local reinvestment of funds which included an upgrade or renovation of each school and technology equity across all schools.

The Myrtle Grove K-8 renovation project included site improvements and classroom technology upgrades throughout the school at a total value of $5.5 million.
