At the October Board meeting, School Board Member Dr. Steve Gallon III recognized Breakthrough Miami for their tireless work and commitment to the students of Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS). M-DCPS is committed to developing and maintaining meaningful partnerships with organizations that assist students in their pursuit of learning and success.

Breakthrough Miami is an award-winning out-of-school academic and social enrichment program which prepares under-resourced students to enter and succeed in college, that was founded in Miami, FL in 1991.

Breakthrough’s eight-year continuous program provides an unparalleled rigorous academic curriculum, complemented by social emotional learning, that progresses and scaffolds to engage and meet students’ developmental needs based at each grade level.

“Breakthrough Miami has enabled countless students to “break through” the social, educational, and financial barriers that impedes far too many students to learn and achieve at high levels, and pursue their dreams and life’s work,” Dr. Gallon said.

Dr. Gallon, the entire Board and Superintendent applauded them for their efforts and expressed their excitement to continue to work with Breakthrough Miami in these efforts.
