On Tuesday, January 20, 2026, School Board Member Dr. Steve Gallon III successfully hosted a highly informative and well-attended education town hall at Miami Norland Senior High School. The event brought together a broad cross-section of Miami-Dade County Public Schools stakeholders for an engaging discussion on key educational issues impacting the district.

The town hall covered a wide range of topics, including school board policies proffered by Dr. Gallon, the implementation and impact of Schools of Hope Co-Location provision, attendance boundary considerations, and other critical matters affecting students, families, and school communities. Dr. Gallon also introduced and discussed constructs that will be essential in District 1 schools as we continue to navigate the current and future educational landscape: Professionalism, Performance, Responsiveness, and Relationships.

Attendees were provided with detailed information and the opportunity to ask questions and share concerns. The audience was robust and diverse, consisting of district and school administrators, teachers, parents, community leaders, and education stakeholders, all demonstrating a strong commitment to collaboration and transparency in public education. The level of engagement throughout the evening reflected the community’s shared interest in student achievement, equitable access to quality schools, and thoughtful policy development.

Dr. Gallon emphasized the importance of open dialogue and community partnership in shaping sound educational policy. “Town halls like this are essential to ensuring that the voices of our educators, families, and community leaders are heard and reflected in the decisions we make,” said Dr. Gallon. “I am grateful for the meaningful participation and thoughtful questions from everyone who attended.”
