SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER DR. STEVE GALLON III HOSTS MONTHLY STUDENT RECOGNITION AT NORTH DADE MIDDLE SCHOOL

School Board Member Dr. Steve Gallon III held his first Student Recognition Ceremony of the 2018-2019 school year at North Dade Middle School. Students, parents, teachers, and administrators attended the celebration designed to recognize the success of students in District 1. Students were honored for turn-around, academic achievement, attendance, generosity, improvement in iReady and showing a positive attitude in the pursuit of learning. Each student received a certificate of achievement, a personalized medallion, and a personalized backpack.

DISTRICT 1 SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER DR. STEVE GALLON III HOSTED EDUCATIONAL TOWN HALL MEETING AT MIAMI NORLAND SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL On October 16, District 1 School Board Member Dr. Steve Gallon III held his first quarterly Education Town Hall Meeting of the 2018-2019 school year at Miami Norland Senior High School. Dr. Gallon provided the attendees – who consisted of educators, staff, parents, students, elected officials, and community stakeholders – with updates on present and upcoming policies, programs, practices, and the progress of education in District 1. He also discussed school planning and improvement, and monitoring. Board Unanimously Approves Item H-19

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE OFFICE OF DR. STEVE GALLON III BOARD UNANIMOUSLY APPROVES ITEM H-19, REVIEW AND INSPECTION OF CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTION DEVICES AND RELATED SAFETY PROCEDURES October 12, 2018 At the October 10, 2018 the Board unanimously approved Board Agenda Item H-19, an item calling for the inspection of carbon monoxide detection devices, proffered by School Board Member Dr. Steve Gallon III. Carbon monoxide poisoning is the second most common cause of non-medicinal poisonings death. According to the CDC, more than 10,000 people are poisoned by carbon monoxide needing medical treatment each year and more than 438 people in.

DR. STEVE GALLON III RECOGNIZES FREDDIE WOODSON FOR HIS COMITTMENT, DEDICATION TO M-DCPS

At the August 15 School Board meeting, Dr. Steve Gallon III honored Freddie Woodson for his 38 years of service to M-DCPS and the community. After a long and varied career and many opportunities over a span of 38 years, Mr. Woodson held many different leadership and administrative roles. He served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, school site administrator, district director, region superintendent, associate superintendent and deputy superintendent. In each of these roles, he remained focused and committed to the educational goals of the District and to the needs of the students of which he served.
