Gallon’s Good News
December 2019 Issue
Greetings & Happy New Year!
I hope that the Holiday Season and New Year have brought a spirit of hope, peace, love, and light to you and your family. As we enter this new year and return to work on behalf of our students, staff, and stakeholders, I trust that we will do so with an even greater sense of faith and determination in the education and uplift of our students. We remain very proud of the achievements of District 1 and the hard work, dedication, and support of administrators, principals, teachers, parents, community stakeholders, and most important, students.

The 2020 New Year brings another year of opportunity to do better, to do more, to give more, and love more. This is yet another chance to embrace the possibilities that we have been given as members of Miami-Dade County Public Schools and of the greater community to make a positive, lasting impact on young people and each other not just for the New Year—but all the year through.
As you return to this great and noble work of education, I want to wish you and your family continued strength, peace, love, and light.
Let’s go!
Educationally,
Steve Gallon III
School Board Vice Chair, District 1

At the School Board Meeting held on December 11, 2019, Dr. Gallon was humbled and honored to recognize Dr. Peter J. Cistone, Professor of Educational Leadership at Florida International University.
“Many know my story. Sitting outside of an office door at FIU to appeal denial into an English course in pursuit of a Master’s Degree in English, God sends Dr. Cistone who recruited me into Educational Leadership on a full scholarship. From there, I earned a Master’s and Doctoral Degree and was set on a pathway toward the blessed career of servant leadership that I’ve experienced, ” said Dr. Gallon.
He gave Dr. Cistone a huge congratulations and thanked him for what he’s done for him and countless leaders in M-DCPS and throughout the state and nation.
