Congratulations to these young people who were given a second chance at learning and life and have earned their high school diplomas.

Some may have labeled them “at-risk” or even drop-outs, but as a true public school educator I will never view them as castoffs of our school system or the American Dream.

With our children and young people I do education. I do not play politics. I haven’t for the past 26 years.

And for political expediency I won’t start now.
