At the April School Board meeting, Dr. Steve Gallon III recognized Derek Negron of Carol City Middle School for being named the 2018 Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) Assistant Principal of the Year.
Mr. Negron, who has not fallen short of his given name, “Derek,” which means “gifted leader,” has left his footprint in the field of education since being employed by M-DCPS in 2005 as a teacher at Barbara Hawkins Elementary School. His service to students, educators, the community and all stakeholders is founded upon dedication and excellence.
Mr. Negron is a proven, knowledgeable and highly caring and committed educational leader who is doing great things for our students and community.
