Grade 3 is a critical juncture in the learning and progress of children. In Florida, required annual state assessments in third grade can make the determination of whether or not a child is promoted to the next grade or retained for another school year—of which they may be retained for additional years.
As a result, Grade 3 performance not only provides a strong indicator of how well schools and students are performing, it also has a long-lasting, sometimes devastating impact on the learning and life of a child if they are retained.
Therefore, as your School Board Member for District 1, I pay close attention in monitoring the progress of third grade students and annual results.
I am proud of the release of the 2018 Grade 3 FSA results.
