MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL — Dr. Steve Gallon III today announced that he has officially filed to run for the Miami-Dade County Commission, District 1.

A proven public servant with nearly four decades of leadership experience, Dr. Gallon currently serves as the District 1 representative on the Miami-Dade County School Board, where he helps oversee one of the nation’s largest public organizations, with an annual budget approaching $8 billion and nearly 40,000 employees.

Throughout his career as a teacher, principal, superintendent, and elected official, Dr. Gallon has built a reputation for effective leadership, fiscal responsibility, and delivering results for children, families, and communities.

“Public service has been the focus of my life’s work,” said Dr. Gallon. “I am running for County Commission because District 1 deserves experienced leadership that understands how to bring people together, manage resources responsibly, and improve the quality of life for the residents we serve.”

Dr. Gallon’s campaign will focus on a Quality of Life Agenda centered on five priorities:

• Safe Communities & Strong Infrastructure
• Children, Youth & Family Success
• Economic Opportunity & Financial Security
• Health, Wellness & Community Well-Being

A Magna Cum Laude graduate of Florida A&M University, Dr. Gallon earned master’s and doctoral degrees from Florida International University and completed postdoctoral leadership studies at Harvard University and Stanford University.
