Dr. Gallon kicked off the New Year with the launch of the latest episode of “Real Talk with Dr. Steve Gallon III”. This episode featured a compelling conversation with Dr. Linda Amica-Roberts, the head of the Office of Educational and Economic Access. This office is an evolution of the former Office of Economic Opportunity and seeks to expand its work in supporting improved educational and economic opportunities for the business community, stakeholders, parents, and most importantly, students.
Dr. Gallon is a firm believer that Education, information, and knowledge are power.
District 1 Local Business Fair: A Vision for Growth and Connection

Dr. Gallon recently led a strategic meeting to review data and finalize details for the upcoming District 1 Local Business Fair, scheduled for Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Miami Norland Senior High School. This event provides an excellent opportunity for businesses to learn about partnering with Miami-Dade County Public Schools and connecting with its various bureaus and departments. As the nation’s third-largest school district, M-DCPS manages an annual budget exceeding $7 billion, emphasizing the importance of fostering economic and educational collaborations. Dr. Gallon encourages all stakeholders to take advantage of this significant event.
Leadership in Action: Dr. Gallon’s Journey Shared with Kappa Leaguers

Dr. Gallon III had the privilege of addressing the Kappa Leaguers of the Miramar Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He shared insights from his life and educational journey, inspiring these exceptional young men as they pursue achievement and service in their present and future endeavors. The engagement underscored the importance of mentorship and leadership in shaping the next generation.

At the School Board meeting of January 15, 2025, Dr. Gallon addressed key issues and initiatives impacting District 1 and the broader school community. Dr. Gallon remains committed to advocating for policies and programs that support students, families, and educators while fostering progress and equity within the nation’s third-largest school district.
School Board Approves Transformative Funding for Athletics
January 16, | 2025
It was a successful day for Dr. Gallon at the January School Board Meeting, as several important agenda items were approved, including one that will provide significant financial enhancements and resources to athletics in Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
Special recognition was given to the School Board Superintendent, Dr. Jose Dotres, along with Darryl Holsendolph, Rick Pena, Jose Bueno, and the entire team for their instrumental role in this monumental endeavor.
Additionally, Principal Randy Milliken of North Miami Beach Sr. High School was congratulated for earning the prestigious Florida Purple Star School of Distinction Designation in recognition of the school’s extensive support of military families.

Barrington Irving Technical Training School Graduation

Dr. Gallon joined community leaders and stakeholders to celebrate the second graduating class of the Barrington Irving Technical Training School, a program dedicated to transforming lives through superior technical education in aviation. The school continues to make a profound impact on students and the community by preparing the next generation of aviation professionals.
During the ceremony, Dr. Gallon delivered remarks, reflecting on his time as Barrington Irving’s former principal at Miami Northwestern. He shared the inspiring story of Captain Irving’s senior year declaration to become a pilot and his subsequent achievement as the youngest pilot to fly solo around the world.
Dr. Gallon also extended congratulations to the graduates and expressed gratitude to the stakeholders, supporters, and leaders who continue to champion this transformative initiative. The event highlighted the power of technical education and the importance of opening doors for future generations.
District 1 Town Hall Meeting

Dr. Gallon hosted a well-attended District 1 Town Hall Meeting, bringing together parents, community stakeholders, educators, and district leaders. The event featured updates on approved Board agenda items, a focus on school safety and security, and the recognition of the 2025 District 1 Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year nominees. Tiffany James, Principal of the Year for the North Region, and Tiffany Hayes, Assistant Principal of the Year for the North Region, were honored for their outstanding leadership.
Dr. Gallon expressed his gratitude to all who lead, teach, and serve District 1 schools and students, reaffirming his commitment to fostering collaboration and excellence in education.

District 1 Local Business Fair Supports Local, Small and Minority-Owned Businesses

Dr. Gallon, in partnership with the Office of Educational and Economic Access, hosted the District 1 Local Business Fair at Miami Norland Senior High, drawing over 500 attendees. The event provided insights on doing business with Miami-Dade County Public Schools and opportunities to connect with district staff.
Dr. Gallon highlighted policies supporting local, small and minority-owned businesses and shared strategies for successful engagement. Special thanks were given to Superintendent, Dr. Jose Dotres, the Office of Educational and Economic Access, district staff, and community leaders for their support.
Dr. Gallon Promotes Literacy at “Real Men Read” Program
January 28, | 2025
Dr. Steve Gallon III kicked off the morning supporting literacy at Scott Lake Elementary, an “A”-rated, Gold STEM-designated District 1 school. During the **”Real Men Read”** program, led by Dr. Latoya Porter, male readers engaged students with grade-appropriate books.
Dr. Gallon commended Principal Kenneth Williams, his team, and all participants for making the event a success.
